About MetarCentral
Built by a pilot, for pilots
Created by a General Aviation Pilot
As a general aviation pilot, I was frustrated with the slow, cluttered aviation weather websites that took forever to load on mobile devices. When you're planning a flight, you need quick, reliable access to METAR, TAF, and performance data - not endless loading screens.
MetarCentral was born from this need for speed and simplicity. Built with a mobile-first approach, every feature is designed to get you the information you need in under 2 seconds, whether you're in the hangar, on the ramp, or planning your next cross-country flight.
This platform combines real-time weather data with aircraft performance calculators, giving you everything needed to make informed go/no-go decisions. It's the single, fast source of aviation weather and performance data I wished existed.
Lightning Fast
Sub-2 second page loads with optimized mobile performance
Global Coverage
50,000+ airports worldwide with real-time weather data
Performance Calculators
Aircraft-specific takeoff, landing, and crosswind analysis

Technical Approach
MetarCentral uses a modern, single-stack PHP architecture optimized for speed and reliability. Real-time weather data is cached intelligently to ensure rapid response times while maintaining accuracy.
The platform is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA), allowing installation on mobile devices with offline functionality for cached data.
